Default What do you think of this rough cut of my short film so far?

The short film is more like an essay I guess you could call it. Not really sure what genre it is, but I call it an essay. I used footage from other sources as B roll since a lot of filmmakers do for documentaries.

There are some cuts that don't look as smooth, but that is because I was planning on throwing more B roll over top, once I find more. I was going for the best takes possible, dialogue wise, to suit the B roll for a lot of it.

But what do you think so far, any advice, and tips on what I can do:

Thank you very much for watching and your advice! I really appreciate it!

I think it is basically finished. There's just a couple spots in the video where the actor's voice volume gets low, which can be boosted a bit with an audio edit. Nicely photographed and presented by the actor. I'd let the title show on the screen a couple of seconds for the audience to read it before the actor starts speaking.

Oh really? Well there are some jump cuts as well, that I was going to either put B roll over top, or if I couldn't find any, than I was going to use alternate takes for or smooth out some how.

I can have the title show longer but it's hard to extend with that particular style cause I am using fire inside the letters that doesn't last on screen that long, but I can maybe slow down the fire and see how it looks. Thanks! Plus there is music yet of course. Is there anything else?

Anyone else have any opinions or ideas? I'm kind of stuck on parts of it, and was just wondering if anyone else had any input :).

I liked the jump cuts, they intesified the scene, it screamed at the viewer: "LISTEN!"
if I had one gripe would it be the spinning wheel insert, I'd rather do it with a cast out of focus and a home made wheel.
    But overall good!

Okay thanks. But if the wheel was a little out of focus, wouldn't that look bad since in focus, usually equals good? Why a little out of focus?

I thought maybe the jump cuts were out of place, or at least cut wrong or something. If they are good then they are good, but something about them looks off to be still.

I'd recommend perhaps unifying all your B-Roll and graphics so they look more cohesive, that might be some kind of container or color treatment, I've attached an example.

Oh okay thanks, are you saying to color grade them to look more similar to each other, or what do you mean?
