Explorer: London
Hey guys,
as an starter in DSLR filmmaking Im asking you for your feedback. I created a short when I was in London for one day. I know I have still much to learn and would appreciate every single tip you could give me to improve.
For this one my biggest inspiration was a short from JR Alli. Trying to learn about transitions and editing.
Looking forward to hear from you! Thanks in advance

I think the camera work was very well done. I didn't care for the music, it overpowered the street sounds and views and became distracting. Your street sounds overlapped on several of the scenes so some of them seemed inauthentic as they came from another location. For example there was no banjo music with the banjo player. The main criticism I have of the video is the fast cuts. If you are showing London, how much can anyone see or remember when all the cuts are 2 seconds or less? I would have user 4 to 6 second cuts to show off the city, used slower music at a lower volume to match the longer cuts, increased the volume of the street sounds to give a flavor to each location. Basically your camera work was excellent but the music and fast cuts left me with nothing to remember.

Good suggestions, bobspez.

Thank you very much for the response. That is incredibly helpful. I tried to be a little more experimental with this one. But yeah definitely making a point that showing locations with fast cuts is difficult. Something I need to work on if I do something similar again.. thanks again!

You're welcome, Braso Production.

I like the number 14...
It suggests it is going to be there for 14 years. 2 seasons of 7 years each. Two transparent 7 ups?

Thank you Mark,
but Im not sure if I can follow your response.
How do you come up with the number 14? Do you reference the elevator scene in my video?

Yes, Braso Production, the elevator scene.
Video time length: 1:08 ... The number 14 appear at 0:39 and 0:40...
The white number 14 and the white upwards arrow above it.

Silly?... I'm not silly...
...
I'm fond of far-fetched screenplays... A plot full of metaphors jumbled together.
I enjoy the complexities of semiology (the study of codes) and semiotics.
... ...
But you're so simple. You're a simpleton trying to make movies...
