    Default Curious

Can a producer/director of a previous film remake it for another film company?
Example: Quentin Tarantino do a Disney version of one of his films.

Can you provide a bit more context? I did not fully understand the Example. Thanks!

I think I understand your question. They way I imagine it works is Tarantino directed kill bill for production company X but since Tarantino is under contract for company X he can not produce kill bill for company Y firstly due to the contract the director is under and secondly company X already has copyrights to the film. For Tarantino to produce kill bill for Y, Y would have to buy Tarantino out of his contract and buy the rights to the story from X.

At least that's how I'd imagine the situation to be.
