Default Is it unethical to get a new DP in this case?

I was asking for opinions on my short film in the editing, and I'm in the editing and post production process. I wanted to do a final edit, before scoring the music, and then it would be done.

However, some of the opinions I haven gotten from some people say I need to shoot additional footage to tie certain things together here and there.

But the DP on the project is done since we already wrapped up almost a month ago, and we are in post production now. The DP is taking on other projects, so I won't have his camera to match the other footage if we need to shoot additional footage.

So I could get someone else, or ask him to come back, but I don't think he would have liked that I want to shoot more scenes, based on some opinions on the edit.

So I could get someone else if these additional scenes are needed, but is that fair of me, since I already agreed to give him DP credit, without him having to share it with anyone unexpectedly, or is it understandable that if additional footage must be done, then they must be done?

I'd say you should always contact your original DP for pick-ups or re-shoots. They can keep the look consistent, regardless of the camera. However, if there's bad blood between you and the original DP, then it may be better for you as the filmmaker to get a different DP. As the filmmaker, you should always pick the DP you want to work with.

It is fair to get another DP to shoot your pick-ups and re-shoots. Typically, the original DP gets the main credit while the other DP who did the pick-ups/re-shoots gets the "Additional Photography" credit.

Okay thanks, if I must shoot additional footage, I can give the original the main credit then.
