I keep being told to spend less money on my projects, but I wonder if spending less money actually hurts the movie sometimes, if you don't go a certain distance.

I helped another filmmaker make his feature film and he produced and directed the entire movie for less than $400 USD, without getting too specific.

But that was really low and I felt that the lack of money showed on the screen. So I feel that there is this attitude that the less you spend the better, but maybe there is such a thing where too low, is actually to too low and it will show.

Or do you think that the more talented the filmmaker is, the lower budget you can go and it won't show?
