    Default Good allround lens

    Hello There,
Looking for a good allround film lens voor the Nikon D5200 a crop body. Though about the sigma 17-50mm f2.8 and the sigma 18-35mm f1.8. I Don't know which one to pick up because the have both pro's and cons. What is your opinion or your lens of Choice?
    Greetings,
    Tim

I've been recently looking into lenses for a GH5s and dealing with the crop factor on that. I currently use a Nikon D5100 with hacked firmware and would like to use my lenses for this camera on a GH5s, my next camera purchase.

The Sigma 18-35mm is high on my list as it is revered for sharpness, has a nice wide f-stop for low light shooting, and a nice range to 35mm (about 50mm on the APS-C sensor Nikons).

As for the 17-50mm f2.8, between these two lenses, is will come down to your specific needs. I am not so familiar with the sharpness of this lens.

It may come down to how much shooting in low light, and how low, you intend to be shooting. For bang for the buck, the 17-50mm may be a better choice for the wider range of focal length.

    Good luck.

    Steve

I'm also going to purchase the GH5 and looking for lenses and currently own the Nikon D7100.

Are there lenses that work for both?

You can use your DX lenses on the GH5 but you need either an adapter or a speed booster.

Using just an adapter on the GH5 gives a crop factor of about 2.2, compared to your Nikon 1.5.

Using a Speedbooster you can knock the crop factor back down to about 1.7.
