  • Filmmaking & Economy for 2013

For those filmmakers that had the unfortunate opportunity of trying to sell there films after 2008, there might be some light at the end of the tunnel. From 2008 to 2012 selling a low-budget was nearly impossible after the economy crash.

History has always repeated itself, and the last 4-5 years have been very very hard on millions of people and companies.

My guess is that 2013 will be a fruitful year, and if you happen to retain your rights for your film this might be the best year to get rid of it. List of Film Distributors

My resources from some very smart people say that 2013 will be better then the past 5 years, but 2014 will be even better. They also warn that 2015-16 might crash again or it might another 15 years, so for those who are smart will build up their assets now.

Something else to think about. Netflix just lost some huge contracts. They will need to fill the void somewhere or subscribers are going to start dropping like flies.

Lets hope they start accepting indie films in the masses like they used to - I remember watching all of Nicks films on there. I was like "Honey, i know this guy!"

I'm glad to hear this news as I just shot a film that hits the film festival circuit 2014. I'm sad about the Netflix news though. i hope they recoupe their contracts for indie films sake. I'll google Netflix and see the latest news.
