  • Directors on stage?

Do you think that a director should play in films?
I think it's good because when a director take actor's place that improve his skills.
He will be more capable to maintain the pressure and direct the actors. What do you think?

See, this wouldn't work for me, as I would have to constantly resist the urge to give myself extreme close ups :)~

I think it depends. I don't think a director needs to be in films to be a good director but im sure that if a director did then he would be more knowledgeable of what the actors go through, a few days ago I read this article on here forgot who wrote it but it made complete sense http://www.filmmakerforum.org/conten...skill-set.html

I offered the director of my feature a role (fairly important one); she's been acting for many years and I knew she'd be terrific in the role.
She declined, because while she would have loved to do it, she felt she had more than enough on her plate already.

        So...yeah, it depends I guess...

Its such a huge responsibility to direct alone, I just don't think its a good call on most parts. Unless you absolutely have to cast them.

As a director of actors, there is a great deal to be learned by assuming the role of actor, whether on film or on stage.

Directing oneself, however, is a whole other kettle of fish and should not be attempted by anyone who has does not have a whole lot of acting experience under one's belt.

" I would have to constantly resist the urge to give myself extreme close ups". Nice one.
I don't know. I mean I'm not the person who wants to be an actor or seeing himself on screen but
some people said to me that It would be very good for directors to act on camera as actors or even attending acting classes.

Actually, I don't think I'm very photogenic, and I prefer to be behind the camera.

Same here. I'd much rather be behind it then in front of it.
