  • Indiegogo campaign for my film noir project "The Shadow Sea"

my first crowd funding campaign is now underway over at indiegogo. The campaign page is here:

    http://igg.me/p/386656

If you want to learn more about it before you consider contributing you can visit the facebook page here:

    www.facebook.com/theshadowsea

    or the production blog here:

    http://theshadowseamovie.blogspot.com

Any and all contributions great and small appreciated. Regardless of whether you contribute funds, if you could share the link to the campaign everyone involved would be forever in your debt. Thanks

Rich, you need to check your indigogo page. I just tried to contributed some money and it glitched on me. So I don't know if it charged my card, or if it went through. If it didn't go through, let me know and I'll try again.

Yikes! No donations have registered. I'll get on them over at igg and see what's going on and make sure you haven't been erroneously charged. I'll get back asap.

Thanks for the heads up. I've sent a help request to indiegogo to find out if its a glitch with the campaign page or what. In the meantime they have this page ...

        http://support.indiegogo.com/entries...ibution-errors

that you may or may not know about that might be able to help.

          Director,
Heard back from indiegogo customer service...

          Camilo, Apr 24 13:16 (PDT):
          Hi there,
We apologize for the disruption. The person to which you are referring has not been charged anything.

I would suggest trying again since nothing else she said indicates there's a problem with the campaign page itself. Just gave a lot of PR talk and the support email: support[at]indiegogo.com

            Ok, it worked this time.

BTW, if you've never done crowd funding before, there's a few things I should tell you. You need to contact everyone you know to get them to contribute. And I mean everyone. That's the only way you gain momentum. Until you've raised at least $5,000 from friends and family, the general public won't start contributing.

Good luck and make it happen :)~

Thanks Director. You are officially my hero!

I've read that crowd funding can be like trying to get sober people on the dance floor and that you need family/friends to get things going. My family however is notoriously slow on the uptake so while I think I might see something from them it'll probably be with 3 hours to go til deadline. I've also spoken to friends, who've pledged to help out. I'll take them at their word and remind them at regular intervals if I have to.
Bottom line is that I'm going to have to try and get this thing going via strangers. No easy task. This is one reason I chose the 60 day campaign instead of 30 or 45 days like a lot of campaigns do. I felt it was going to be slow to catch on and that if I wanted to move this mountain I was going to have to get out and push. So I'm pushing.

              Thanks again

While I appreciate your manners (you must be English, Aussie, or Kiwi) I'm afraid just reminding friends and family will not do. You're going to have to beg, plead, cajole, shame, and maybe even threaten to put their photos up on some gay porn site (jk), until they just give you the money to shut you up.

If you want to raise that kind of money, you're going to have to hustle. And that mean's social networking everyday, too.

Died in the wool. Hard to watch them falling apart but all good things must come to an end (for now).

In all seriousness, I appreciate the point you're making about getting in people's faces. And thanks for the feedback on the trailer too.
