Topic: Question: What to do after post-production, but before distribution?

Early this year I’ll be launching my adventurous/philosophical short film (23 minutes) about Sustainability and the Sharing Economy.
But I don’t know:
1 how to share the news about the upcoming film. I’ve seen many articles, but they mostly explain - how to write a press release. I wrote, but it didn’t go any further. (What kind of publications could I contact? Do they just copy-paste my press release? What are other options? Do I need to send them a full preview of my film or a trailer is enough?)

2 I’m not aiming to sell it, but, I’m aiming to show it to like minded people (interested in sustainability). What are some creative options for a distribution, when audience doesn’t have to pay for watching the film (besides YouTube/Vimeo)?

Thank you in advance. A few words about myself, if someone is interested, I worked as an actress for almost a decade, and now I’m a first time director/producer.

My first thought would have been to try to get this film on one of the several PBS series that show this type of film.That would give you a built in distribution channel and audience. I would contact them to find out which of their series might be interested then contact those series to determine their criteria for acceptance. I would condsider this the ultimate goal for this type of work.
Then there is always public access, preferably on an established public access series but if not, then just as an individual contribution.
For youtube I'd also be looking for an established series that accepts submissions.
This way you don't have to build your own audience.
I'd also look for established groups that would be interested in advertising your film to it's members when it's either released or actually scheduled for airing.
Just putting a film on youtube is likely to get you very few comments and no followup other than a few likes. My own expeience is about one in a thousand viewers leaves a positive comment.
