Post Distribution of films outside their home country

    Hi Everyone,

I'm currently analysing the overall movie market and with that I also refer to all of the smaller non-blockbuster movies.

I was wondering if there are any statistics how many movies are not shown outside of their local market? Or outside of their home country.
This can be due to too high distribution costs, missing subtitles and not enough funds for marketing or many other reasons.

Can anyone help me with that?

    Kind Regards
    Maik

I suspect that most low and ultra low budget movies are not distributed outside of their home country, but I think it will be tough to find stats on what doesn't happen :)

Once you get outside your own language region, you need to deal with sub-titles and (often) a different poster.

One way of thinking about it would be: How many movies are produced within a year? Or how many movies exist in total until now? And then it could be thought of how many of these movies are broadcasted internationally?

Any help and statistics are highly appreciated!

In terms of how many are produced each year, you could try IMDb as a resource, and see how many list years x, y, and z as release dates. Not every movie is listed, however.

Do you have a link from imdb where to find all the movies for a year?

No, but IMDb has a search function.

I have the number for all of the movies that have been produced. However I can not find how many of those movies were not broadcasted internationally.

Can anyone else give me some more information about the movie market in the sense of how many IMDb movies are not shown outside their home country?
