What are your thoughts on using this, rather then just using a GoPro? - I know that money is key but are there other reasons to do this?

By using a DSLR you have control of almost every aspect. Your lens choice, best low light capability, and quality of a DSLR. However it is not a solve all, some situations may call for using a GoPro.

    Hope I answered your questions!

I agree, Charles you will have many more options with a DSLR then a GoPro for filming a movie. Just my thoughts

Not sure how I missed this, good tut. Will this work with a Canon Mark ii?

I used a Canon 6D on it with a 24-105 and it seemed to fair well. If you can get a prime lens it'd be ideal. I have not used a 5D on it yet, not sure about the weight difference between the two cameras.
