msnyderfilmz (http://www.filmmakerforum.org/members/msnyderfilmz.html) pointed out that it could make sense to make a documentary on filmmaking. I agree that this is the easiest way to get a film done given the nature of this forum and the people on it. So, if everyone's up for it, heres how I think we should do it.

Everyone films themselves documentary style talking about:

-Their career

-Tips on filmmaking

-What goes into making a film

-Challenges faced by filmmakers

-The job of a filmmaker

These "interviews can be as long or short as you have time to make, though clearly longer is better.

Everyone would post their interviews on this thread, than I could take them along with anyone else who wanted to help in post and edit the interviews into a full documentary!

Who would be up for something like that?

Yup, a DOC would be much better!

Awesome! Just post the link right here when you're finished.

Does anyone else want to do this?

That's a coincidence, I'm just starting to put together a documentary series on my new channel 'How to make a film': https://www.youtube.com/user/h2maf about my experiences with different filmmakers and general resources to help newcomers, first video coming next week in fact!

EDIT: In fact I'd be happy to host any videos on that channel as a collaboration, although I won't be running Adsense on any videos (not that we'd make much anyway!)

Awesome! Would you be willing to have us use parts of your doc in ours?

That would be fine! Feel free to submit any of your work in my DMs and I'll see if I can integrate them on my doc channel.

The first part of my tips series is here in case you didn't see. I'm not sure it's appropriate for the style of the doc but I'll be doing some more interview style stuff soon on topics like 4K and the mechanics of DSLRs for beginners. I'll be putting up new episodes of beginners tutorials every Saturday and Pro talks (4K, opinions etc.) every Wednesday.

That's great! So, we have at least two or three participants.

Is anybody else interested in contributing to the documentary?
