Hey guys, I was really hoping to create a list of the Top 5 Stock Footage Websites that offer the footage for free.

If we can create the list of the websites that would be great and I will edit it into this first post so its easy for people to find.

Best Answer:

For free... that's hard. I found this about a week ago: http://mitchmartinez.com/downloads/

Here's another good one: http://www.detonationfilms.com/Stock_Directory.html

Video copilot sometimes gives away stock footage.

Here's an archive of some public domain footage: http://archive.org/browse.php?field=subject&mediatype=movies&collection=stock_footage

I will add more in as we get them.

I don't exactly know how you're evaluating this list of stock footage sites.

Not a bad idea for a thread I suppose. But I will say, finding solid stock footage for free is difficult.

Videoblocks is pretty good--it's a pay site but they frequently offer 7 day free downloads with a size limit per day. Not sure how to get on their mailing list, but I get the emails all the time. I even signed up for a paid year and got some great stuff. They have some sound fx, too.

I wonder if Nick would consider just setting up permanent lists for things like this. Kinda like a review section for Filmmaking Resources. Just a thought I just had.

Downright junk. Half of then you can film yourself. I mean come on a cup of coffee? Peas? A glass of milk? Its not worth the visit.

And frankly since the youtube channel was made yesterday and most of the videos dont even have one view, I suspect you are the creator of that channel and joined here just to revive a dead thread and spam us with your youtube channel. Its really not appreciated.

Thank you for your comment, maybe next time you can keep the flaming to yourself and use proper grammar when thrashing someone.

No. When someone enters this forum to spam and doesnt even do it honestly they deserve a flame job. Be up front and state you are promoting your own channel right from the start. Deceit is never the way to introduce yourself.

Yup, Carla joined and then made only 1 post, about a YouTube channel that is supposedly not hers/his. No introduction, no posting about filmmaking, no questions about filmmaking or writing, no......nothing.

Good call, Mick.
