View Full Version : Indoor Boom Mic - RECOMMENDATION NEEDED

Hello all,

I'm looking for a hypercardioid mic to be used for TV/Film production projects. I have an NTG-2 for outdoor scenes, but shotguns sound terrible indoors. I'm hoping to spend under $500.

One big limitation for me though is it needs to be a relatively sensitive mic, as I am recording into a Tascam DR-40 (not the best pre's). My NTG-2 is just barely sensitive enough - it would be great to find something with a little higher output, such as an ME66/K6.

So far I've narrowed it down to these, but other recommendations are welcome:

Oktava MK-012
Audix SCX1/HC
AT4053b (though, a little over $500)
AKG Blue Line CK93 and SE-300B

I have a Rode NTG-2 and love it. Used on 4 shorts and currently on a web series. Great indoor and outside but inside really isolates actors and produces a solid mid range tone. I haven't used the NTG-3 but Rode products have always served me well! Just my 2 cents.
