I've noticed basically every forum that I frequent has one of these. It is usually the most popular thread on the site.

Come here if you just want to talk to other members about anything going on. Talk about your day, life, school, work, ect. Keep conversation with other members. Ask for advice.

Just chat away.

Right now I'm going to sleep, hopefully we get some responses in here tomorrow and can start some discussion.

Larry, Alley, & Astrid.
We call Alley our movie cat 'cause we found him as a tiny kitten when we were shooting a short.

We have 2 indoor cats, Frances and Alice. We had a third Elliot. Sadly he passed away while we were on vacation this past September. It still bothers me. He was only 11.5 years old. I know that's the average age of a male cat. But, he should have lasted many more years. Frances is his brother.

Alice we picked up off our backyard as a kitten. She was sick. She's now a 2 year old terror.

Oh, and we have 10 outdoor cats I feed. Marty has been out there since we moved in 2007. She's had kittens who have had kittens. TEN FRIGGIN CATS and there's more on the way. Anyone want a few?

You win, UniqueAmI ! Larry was born under our barbecue grill (we found homes for his siblings), while Astrid walked out on his owner (our neighbor) and showed up at our window, hollering to be let in. The neighbor has large dogs, which I guess Astrid didn't like (yeah, we let the neighbor know we were taking him in!).

I picked up Alice the day after Hurricane Irene. She was so sick she couldn't open her eyes. The other cats would run away when she came close.

This is the first video I took of her.

This is sorta filmmaking related, but WTH. Anyway, there's this awesome site called "GlobalMove". It's sort of like Apple and Google Maps, but it's a bit easier to navigate, with a cleaner interface. There's also an option that allows to you track (filmmaking) meet ups if you punch in your location.

http://globalmove.us

You're welcome.

UniqueAmI: Poor little thing, bet it's glad you rescued it.

Mara: Sounds like some nice cats.

None of my cats have a very interesting story really Scruff is Charlotte's son - both siamese chocolate points - and Tim is a Havana - and he's huge.

Alice only likes me when she wants to play. Otherwise she hates my guts. She loves Karen though.

I'm like Elmyra Duff to animals.

Who doesn't like monkeys? One of my relatives had one that he'd bring up from NC back in the 60s. It was cool.

I'm going to see Chloe Grace Moretz aka Hit-Girl in her Off-Broadway debut this Saturday.

I love this girl. Young with a ton of talent. She better not fuck up and do a Lindsay Lohan.

Roadrunner was my father's favorite cartoon. He loved it. Back in the 60s he bought us a poster of Wyle chasing the Road Runner with the caption "Beep Beep your ass" (us kids were under ten), that hung on our wall. It was there for a while, till I asked my mother why the Coyote had THREE legs. The third being long and hard and sticking out at the Runner. That poster was ripped off the wall in an instant.

I pick up my new camera tonight when I get off work. I had it delivered to Fed Ex and they are open 24 hours (SWEET!). Pretty excited about that. Has anyone here used a Sony NEX EA50? I see it is among the favorites of those that film weddings. You do not see many used ones for sale. I grabbed this one for $2610 which was a good deal for a "like new" cam like this one. I have a Atomos Ninja 2 waiting to connect it record 4.2.2. I'm not to sure what that means though, but I do know that it is the best capture quality for this cam by getting the footage straight from the sensor before it gets compressed.

How many hours did the camera have logged?

The image on the listing said 50 but when I got it I found it was 70.

Here is an idea for a short for those creative peeps...

I bought this cam off Amazon as it was listed "like New" condition. I had been in back in forth emails with the seller for probably 3 days prior to pulling the trigger on this purchase lining up my credit card for available funds and all that. I had the cam delivered to FED EX pick up because it is a 24 hour spot and no one was goiing to be home to sign for the for the package.

So I get the camera from Fed Ex and get home to evaluate it. I noticed first off that is was not packed with care although in the original box. There was card board scuffs on the cam and the eye loop. That pissed me off first! So I looked at the footage that was already on the SD card from the previous owner and saw some young girls in what looked like a press box in a high school stadium. There was some footage of lacrosse games and stuff like that. It still did not register at this point, maybe the excitement of a new cam had me in tunnel vision. I had already purchased a Atomos Ninja 2 for this cam because of the research I did on it prior to buying it. I film wedding right now as my means to make shorts and pay for more toys. Everything seemed to check until I went to try my Ninja 2. I found that the HDMI port did not work. At this moment pissed is not the word after paying $2600 for this cam. So I got my other cam out and tried the HDMI cable on it to make sure it is not my equipment and everything worked like ti was suppose to. I was stoked prior to getting this cam cause i know the Sony NEX EA50 has a nice size sensor and I could record right from the sensor before it gets compressed. i was looking to take my game up a level with better footage capture.

Needless to say now I'm emailing the seller and no response. prior to the purchase the seller was right on it making sure they got back with me pretty quick. So i got his name from the packaging and googled his name and city. I saw that he had an article wrote about him in his home town for filming the football team and wanting to be a film maker. I reflected back to a few emails where he mentions that he was selling for his boss. So of course I'm thinking maybe a football coach assistant or whatever. The next morning I was able to call the school looking for this guy and he turn out to be a 15 year old kid selling on Amazon as an adult (Not Good). So i talked to the Athletic Director and proceed to tell him the issue with the cam. He says well he is a corky kid but he makes great documentaries... So I put it in a way that he would take more notice of the matter. i said well you have 15 year old kid who is eluding to selling an item for his boss and I track him to your school. he was impersonating an adult as if but implication he works for you, can you see what I'm getting at? So he became way more serious and took my name and number and told me that he would have someone get back to me. later today i finally get a reply from the kid saying that everything was working before he shipped it, yada yada yada... I replied well kid i found out that you are only 15 years old. I own a production company and i know how to work my equipment, and aside from that I'm a Skill Trade Electrician so i know electronics very well. You had to know that the item was damaged before shipping if you are telling the truth about checking everything out as you said. I said I tracked you down to your high school and talked to your Athletic Director and he told me you were a good kid and all that. Do what is right! As a matter of fact i do not feel right negotiating with you because you are a kid. Have you parents contact me and if you do not I will call the school back and have them contact your parents for me. I will involve everyone connected with you until this matter is put to rest. He immediately emails me back trying to quickly give me the refund becasue 1. he did not like me contacting the director, and 2. he did not want to get his parents involved... LOL! So with this story one cause begin to show the reasoning behind his fear of getting the parents involved and put a nice twist on the story as well include some faculty member from the school as well. Just a thought...

That would make a good movie. As a further twist, he stole the camera from his coach.

I hate when you buy something and communication is fast before you give them money and non-existent when there's a problem. I've had that 3 times on ebay. So, I'm grateful for buyer protection.

Did you check out B&H for the camera? They do have a used department.

yeah I think that what the audience can relate to is buying over the internet with the fear of it not being what they expect it to be. There are a mutitude of twist here that could be discovered.

He could have been selling it to get rid of evidence for his dad that was indulging in child pornography.
he could have stolen it from the coach but the coach could been a spy and it contained secret information in the circuit board.
We could go on for day, lol!

yes I do check out B & H I like and trust them. But they were the first to send me something that did not work. That did eventual send me a good one.

The kid dies and they find a suicide message on the camera when it is returned because it was defective.

the kid dies and his love for the girl next door is revealed as she always was interested in him.

the camera was a bomb and by it being returned blew up his family when it was returned in the mail

the principle of the school ran a drug ring and the coach was second in command. He had hid some in criminating things in the camera and the boy stole it and sold it on amazon. The principle was killing the family that the camera was sold to until he killed every last one. He never found the camera until he got back to the school and found that it was returned because it was defective.

I see where most ideas for films come from - something small and everyday happens and then the filmmaker makes up loads of little stories.

You should make that film.

Yep, it's a pity. I'd make it but I don't really have any actors and I have no money so I'm a bit stuck.

I might give writing a screenplay a crack, if you don't mind that is.

No go right ahead.

I think i will start a thread that we will brainstorm on a particular subject and get one of these script writers to script it. We have way more than enough experienced people here to have fun with this. Maybe i can start with a another idea that I have for a short.

In the early 1980s I worked with an old (70s) Italian alcoholic who in his prime owned a butcher shop. He'd go to his car during lunch and down a pint of vodka. He tells me one day "George, I'm gonna make you hot sausage. Sausage so hot it's gonna burn your mouth". "Okay Tony you go to it". This guy brought me in home made sausage that was fucking phenomenal. It did burn my mouth, throat and stomach. When I bit into it, it looked like there was more red pepper than meat. He brought me a bunch quite a few times before he left the company. Best hot sausage I've ever had.

This guy was married and had a girl friend on the side. In his 70s.

Damn those were good times.

Thanks for the tip. I use to always check B & H's used dept. and I would never see this cam there. Well when you said it I just so happened to check and there was 2 there. I finally got my money back from the last transaction and when i went to purchase it one was already gone in a matter of 1 day. SO I go the last last one and it should be here Wednesday.
