My Sony NEX FS100 can record audio in Linear PCM or Dolby Digital. Which is the best choice and why? I am not looking to move audio off my camera just which format is the better to record audio in.

Thanks,

What is the destination of the audio? CD, DVD, Youtube, etc?

Im pretty sure Linear PCM is stereo 1,2 - So with no question I would go with Dolby.

Reason - More channels

I found another post finally on Google. It says Linear PCM is non-compressed and Dolby digital is compressed so it is better to record in PCM and export in Dolby Digital.

16-bit 48KHz LPCM or Dolby Digital Stereo 48KHz That is all Sony has on their site about the audio capabilities of the camera. So I really don't know.

Sorry about that.. I am still trying to figure all of this out lol. I was told however that the onboard audio for my camera is equal to a Zoom H4n or Tascam so that did save me some $$
