Default How can I do this type of reflection effect?

Basically I want to make it look like someone is in front of a projector or tv screen, and the screen is reflecting back on them. Kind of lik the effect in this video example, at 3:11 into the video:

I don't think I will be able to get a real reflection on the actor because I have to shoot there scene first before, being able to get the scenes I want to show the reflections of, reflecting on his face. So is there a way to do it with after effects? I was thinking of turning down the opacity on the actor and using the 'screen' effect, but is there a way to make it look better?

Use a projector loaded with the footage you want to reflect. Easy.

But the problem is I don't have access to a projector. And we have to shoot those scenes coming out of the projector later on, after the scene with the actor in.

There may be a way with Premier or another editor but in reality the best and easiest way is with a projector. And no you dont have to shoot the scenes coming out of the projector later. Thats why we have non-linear editing. Schedule your shoots the right way.

Okay thanks. I can try to talk the others into waiting to do the shoot until later if we must then. What does non-linear editing have to do with the effect though?

That is not a reflection but a projection.
Just overlaying other footage in AE will just look like a layer on top, instead of a projection.
But why don't you try it?
Shoot a 5 second test shot (your favourites) and try to put a layer on it in AE. You could have already done that by now.

For a real projection you need footage to project first.
For layers in an AE comp, the order you shoot doesn't matter to the sotware.
