Default What is your favorite Movie of all time?

I will start it out with stating that my favorite movie of all time is "There Will Be Blood"

I enjoyed this film because of the style, the acting, and the overall feel of the movie.
You are sucked in from beginning, and the if you like business then you will love the
    main character of the film

    Whats yours?

There Will Be Blood is friggin' brilliant - own it on DVD! I personally love anything PT Anderson.

All time favorite is Lawrence of Arabia. I didn't see it when it was initially released - hadn't been born yet - but I refused to watch it on TV. My first ever viewing of the film was the restoration release in 1989, when I drove 200 miles to view a 70mm print in a Cinerama theater, the way Lean intended it to be seen. If I can make a film one-tenth that good in my lifetime, I shall die fulfilled.

I was just watching the Trailer of "Lawrence of Arabia" and I have already found an awesome line I will use.

"My Name is for my friends"

Awesome, cant wait to see it, is it on Netflix?

I don't use Netflix, but I can't imagine they would not have it. It is considered a masterpiece in pretty much every circle. Won 7 Oscars, including Best Picture.

If you must watch on video, please make sure you have the largest image and best sound possible.

    Currently, Southland Tales.
But There Will Be Blood is second and I only watched it twice. Don't have it on dvd. So with more viewings I expect There Will Be Blood to easily take my number one.

I own all three of those as well. :D Y'all got good taste!

I've also acted in a production of Glengarry...the Kevin Spacey role.

Goodfellas is by far my favorite movie of all time. I own the DVD, and a copy of the screenplay signed by the crew.

Yeah Ghost is a great movie. Whenever I watch it, I get a bit sentimental, not a good image when the kids are watching it with you.

My all-time favorite is Bonnie and Clyde, 1967. Warren Beatty, producer.

Doesn't really stick to the facts of the real-life robbers, but it's a stylish film that just grabs me and shakes me all the way to the end. Wonderful performances, terriffic filmmaking.

I was lucky enough to meet Arthur Penn, the director, when he was directing a film up the street from my film school dorm in New York City.

If you've not seen it--try to find it on netflix or elsewhere. Great film.

If this were broken down into genre, it would be a little easier to answer. For example:

My favorite Western: The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly
    Favorite SciFi : Blade Runner
Favorite jail break movie: The Shawshank Redemption

My overall list of favorite movies is quite extensive.

I would say that my all time favorite film is the Cecil Be Demille's The Ten Commandments. It had that epic feel to the movie. The score was just awesome! Not to mention Annie Baxter as Nefretiri was just sooo sexy ;)

The Ten Commandments was a great movie, although I thought Edward G. Robinson was Ill cast. When he gave that line "Where's you God now", I expected him to follow it up with "see''. "Where's your God now, see. Ya mug...where's you God now...see."

The Ten Commandments is such a great movie, crazy what they did back then with all of those people. Thousands of people for some shots.

I will have to stick with Braveheart. I know its old, but man the emotions that movie brings out is unbeatable.

I would also like to take my hat off to James Walter Uhls for his screen play adaptation of "Fight Club". Fight Club was, script wise, one of the most uniquely structured scripts I have seen in years. And anyway, I just love bizarre films.

"And whatever you do, don't sell that cow."

Incidentally, a part of that movie was filmed in a little town in Texas where I lived as a kid. Red Oak, Texas. It's the scene where they're trying to beat it out of town and an old fire truck almost runs into them. That shot with the fire truck was not planned, it was an accident, but the fire truck in our town was so old, they decided to keep it in the film.

I was only about 10 at the time, but my friends and I would be jumping up and down in the background and acting like idiots until the film crew ran us off.

Depending on my mood any given day, either Lost in Translation, Sideways, or Match Point.

Among classic films, I love Casablanca.

This one is hard, really hard. But lately I have three movies that have been haunting my mind.

Once, Le Samourai (The Godson) and Fantastic Planet. Amazing movies, my top 3 for the day.

The Shining. Because I notice something new every time I watch it. There are so many layers of meaning it's ridiculous.

I am obsessed with Henry V it's almost close to a confluence of perfection, for me. It has the beautiful language of William Shakespeare. It tells a great, dramatic, and inspiring story from the history of the people. It is beautifully shot too. Plus Kenneth Branagh gives a brilliant performance as both the star and director.
However, from my unacademic perspective, no living actor/director understands Shakespeare better than Kenneth Branagh...hahaha.
