Yeah I guess. Not sure if I want to even set it in a motel cause a motel might not be okay with that, but it makes logical sense for the police to put the character in a motel, instead of a house probably. I can have the shootout as long as none of the characters get hit, cause I want them to all be able to make it to the climax for the story to go the way I...

Yeah for sure. I mean originally I had a chase involving a fire truck cause some of the equipment on board the truck is used to propel the action, but that will probably be out. I can definitely re-write it, just not sure what... Like for example, there is a scene, where a kidnapped character is rescued by police. The kidnappers get away, and one of them...

Well the script isn't finished yet cause it has gaps where action scenes should be and just need to fill them in. I just don't know how other movies decide on their action scenes. For example, in The Silence of the Lambs SPOILER FROM MOVIE how did they decide that Hannibal Lecter should escape prison the way he did for an action/suspense scene? They...

I wrote a screenplay, and it's a suspense thriller, with the action scenes left to write. I am 71 pages so far without the action scenes, which is pretty normal as it seems in a lot of thrillers, the action takes up about quarter of the runtime. However, I'm pretty lost on what to write for action scenes, since it's microbudget and it's all been done before...

Okay thanks. I watched some tutorials on youtube but none of them explained to hold down the "alt" button while making the L and J cuts. That saves a lot of time, and helps a lot! Thank you very much.

Yeah that one works but the budget seems pretty high on that, or at least it looks high on the screen with the exploding helicopter and car stunts and all. So I felt the stylish title sequence fit the budget.

Okay thanks, that looks good. Well I would probably get a separate DP/camera operator to shoot the movie though, so what kind of gimbal or steadicam would be good for most DPs to be familiar with to use? That way when I get one, I will can hopefully find one who is familiar with it, but which one has gotten the most familiarity, do you think?

Oh okay. I don't mean to imply that Hollywood has power over indie, but I feel that there are certain budget expectations of consistency. For example, one of the indie movies they showed was a microbudget thriller, that dealt with DNA a lot in the plot. The title sequence was an animated one with lots of CGI of DNA strands and things like that, and it looked...

Some indie movies I saw at festivals, seem to want to do really stylish title sequences. However, I wonder if this has reverse effect in which the audience might think that the filmmaker is trying too hard. I mean does a $30,000 USD budget movie look awkward when it has a title sequence as stylish of caliber as the latest James Bond movie title sequences? ...

I was running the entire time pretty much, since I want to practice for some running shots for a project. But the Ronin is very awkward to hold the way it is built. I tried framing an actor, close up of his face, while running, and you have to hold it up super high for my arms, because on the Ronin the arm bars higher than the camera. I prefer the rigs where...

Oh okay thanks, I was told that the new version would not work with PC, if I edited in a mac, by one of the classmates. If it does, then great! Thanks.

Okay thanks. It's very difficult to transport, which is why I think I may get another gimble. There are DIY boxes with straps to put them to hold it in place I noticed. But the Ronin is more money than other gimbals so I think I might get another one, or maybe the glidecam knock off that you mentioned.

Well I figured I had enough for a demo reel as long as I keep it short. I made it shorter if that helps: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JPHFAAhYjPw Normally I don't delete my footage but in film school we edited on mac computers, with mac software. Now that I am done school, I have still have a PC at home, and premiere pro projects of the edits will not...

I don't think I can really create a story from three different short films though. I mean they might as well just watch one one of the short films if that's the case. What about how their is already music in the scenes though? If I cut back and forth between a few shorts, it will be cutting back and forth between completely different musics. Basically...

Okay thanks. I've seen a few demo reels like that. However, I feel that you don't really get a lot of from it. It's just a bunch of very brief glimpses of images. I guess that's good, but mind is mostly dialogue based so it will just be shots of actors saying lines, that will come off as random on their own. But I guess that's kind of what is happening in...

When it comes to apply for filmmaking jobs, people often ask for a demo reel. Most filmmakers seem to make a demo reel by taking a lot of their best clips and putting them all together in a 60 second reel, and putting some music overtop, leaving the clips themselves, silent when it comes to sound FX. However, most of the projects I shot so far, include very...

Okay thanks a lot for the input. What about transporting the Ronin? If I place it in the back of a car for example, it rests in this very awkward position, and I am worried the weight, might put too much pressure on the part facing down. It just looks so fragile and sensitive to weight when laying it down, and the way it slouches, so what's a good way of...

Okay thanks. But there are still several times it's broken in other cases, that I cannot figure out why it's okay though. OTS shots confuse me the most, cause they say if there is a conversation between three people, not to go outside the triangle. But OTS shots go out of the triangle, cause they have to show the reverse OTS of one of the characters. This...

Okay thanks. I reformatted after a couple of shoots before and it was still shutting off. I can try again though. It's a Kingston brand. I had a sanddisk card before and didn't have this problem at all, so maybe that's it.
