I just saw Hugo and what a wonderful film it was. What I found most fascinating was the George Meiles biography within.

It's funny how you don't always put two and two together. Starting out as a magician when I was a child, I knew of Meiles and Robert Houdin (Houdini took his name from Houdin). But, I never linked him to Trip to the Moon or early film making.

As I watched them shooting the underwater sequence through a fish tank I was amazed at how extremely clever and imaginative that was.

I wish I'd have seen this in 3D.

According to IMDB as of Feb 2012 this movie is still close to 50 million in the red. What a shame.
